James 1:13-15
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Humanity struggles with sin every hour of the day, every minute of the hour, every second of the minute. We are born with a sin nature that we inherited from our forefather, Adam. James tells us that we cannot blame that sin nature on God, because God does not cause us to sin. God is righteous and holy and the Bible tells us that He can have no part in sin. Habakkuk 1:13 says "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity..." When we sin, it is because of the lust that lives in our own hearts.

As a child, I remember hearing about a powerful drug called LSD. I have no idea what those letters stand for, but I do know that the drug was supposed to cause hallucinations. It caused people to act out of character. James tells us about another form of LSD: lust, sin and death...one leads to another, which leads to another. Lust and sin cause us to act out, think irrationally and do things that displease God and brings death and destruction upon ourselves. The fruit of these three things is never good. Believers, let's check our hearts and make sure that we are not being enticed by the lust therein.
