• The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves. We’re still trying to give orders, and interfering with God’s work within us.

  • The first time I truly heard the Gospel preached and preached properly was while watching one of Jack Hibb’s sermons. The Lord used Jack’s sermon, along with videos of Ray Comfort giving the gospel and putting people to the test of God’s moral law, to convict me of my sins. Since then, I have thirsted for the word of God, for sermons that stayed true to God’s word, that avoid the doctrine of man. I find this same love of God’s word in my Pastor here at home, who also teaches verse by verse.

Pastor Jack Hibbs is one of the few pastors out there unafraid to teach the entire Bible, to teach verse by verse, to take his congregation into prophecy, to take on the demonic perverting of our society, governmental overreach, and to stand against the satanic evils that look to consume our children. In every sense of the word, Pastor Jack Hibbs is indwelled with the Holy Spirit, and is a faithful servant of the Lord. This may be Jack’s story, but it is most certainly God’s glory.

  • God’s Word is not up for review, debate, or editing. In the words of the psalmist, “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). Scripture doesn’t pass away, go out of date, or drift out of relevance. No one has the right to redact it, question its pertinence, or set it aside in favor of something more culturally sensitive or socially acceptable.

  • We’re Entering A New Era In The United States, Where There Will Be A Cost To Following Jesus

For those of us who call the United States home, we have—for the most part—lived a life of religious freedom. We have not had to fear for our health or our family as we have worshiped our Savior. All that is changing. Approximately 2,000 years ago, shortly after Jesus physically walked the roads of Jerusalem, Christians were already suffering for His Name. In 1 Peter 4:12-19, we are told how we should respond when the world attacks us for our faith. As Christians, we must expect sufferings (v. 12). Peter advises us to expect and anticipate suffering. It is unavoidable. We occasionally act like we should get a free pass because we’re Christians—even questioning God’s goodness when bad things happen—but God promised that difficulties would come our way. In John 16:33, Jesus says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” If God promised us that we’re going to go through hard times, we shouldn’t be surprised when it happens. We can rejoice when we go through trials (vv. 13-14). It sounds odd to say we can rejoice during suffering, but there are several reasons why we should: 1. First, we can rejoice because when we suffer we are identified with Christ. This is exactly what the disciples did in Acts 5:41: “So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.” 2. Second, we can rejoice because we share in

  • Beware the Fat
    by Richard Kauffman
After I retired, I worked part-time for eighteen months in a grocery store’s meat department. I know how sausage is made. And I’m aware that cardiologists warn us about eating sausage because of the fat, but it’s the fat that makes sausage taste so good.
If only that were the true about the fat Congress mixes in the sausage it passes. The fat has nothing to do with the legislation’s original purpose but wins the favor of members whose constituencies’ special interests are included.
Tragically, the same kind of thing occurs in some parts of Christendom whose churches participate in what they call ecumenism. They are willing to overlook the nonbiblical beliefs of others in exchange for theirs being accepted. All in the name of unity!
If you consult a good English dictionary for the meaning of the adjective “ecumenical,” you will discover something interesting. That word is derived from the Greek word “oikoumenikos,” which literally means “of the world.”
Here’s an important question for every believer: “What kind of unity do we have with the world?”
In John 15:19 Jesus said to his disciples, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
Our Lord told them that belief in him and his word would divide even families. He said in Luke 12:53, “The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Our basis for unity must be belief in Jesus alone and what Paul declared in 2 Timothy 3:16 is God’s inspired scripture which is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.
