Genesis 1:11-13

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the third day
.

Have you ever walked barefoot in the grass on a spring day? How wonderful it feels to experience the sensation of the cool, soft grass as it comes in contact with the nerve endings on the bottom of the foot...it is relaxing and mesmerizing all at the same time.  All that God created was originally for the maintenance of humanity.

God made provision for mankind to meet his immediate needs. He gave us the herbs and the fruit trees to nourish our bodies. He made it so that the herbs and the fruit trees would reproduce, giving us the replenishment that we would need going forward.  As God completed the third day of creation, He saw that all He had done was good.

As I was studying these verses, it dawned on me that all humanity needed for survival was created by the third day.  We already had light and dark, day and night, which would provide light for the day and darkness so that we could rest. We had land and sea; land to live on and the sea to enjoy.  We already had the earth and the heavens, to look around upon and to aspire to...completed by the third day.

Later in biblical history, God would once again complete all that we need for our eternal survival by the third day.  On the first day of the resurrection event, Jesus was crucified for the sins of the world.  On the second day, His body lay in a borrowed tomb, and on the morning of the third day, He resurrected Himself from the dead, defeating death, hell and the grave!  The enemy of our souls had a plan that would have dragged you and me to hell with him for all eternity, but God had a plan, and He executed it perfectly....and it was completed on the third day.

When Jesus died on the cross, He did so in order that you and I could be saved.  He made a way for us to spend our eternity in heaven with Him.  If you do not know Him, today is a good day to confess your sin to Him and ask Him to save you.  He is willing to do so!  He is waiting especially for you.
