Romans 4:17

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before Him whom he believed, even God, Who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Believers, I will ask you as kindly as I know how to PLEASE stop misquoting this passage of scripture! This passage does not give you the power to call anything into being!!! I get so irritated hearing people claim that God has given us the power to "call those things that be not as though they were"....if that were the case, why are we not calling every lost soul to repentance? Why are not calling every sick person to be healed? Why are we not calling every broken marriage to be restored? Why are we not calling every lost and wayward child to obedience to his or her parents? Why are we not calling an end to abortion? Why are we not calling an end to racism and anti-semitism? Why are we not calling an end to crime and murder and perversion and wickedness and rebellion and darkness of all kinds? WHY?

We are not doing those things because it is not in our power to do so. We are not GOD. God is the One and the only One Who has the power to call things into existence. God said let there be light, and guess what? He created light. God called the heavens and the earth to be separate, and guess what we had? He created the sky, the land and the sea. God took a lump of clay and breathed life into it, and guess what? He created humankind. God is the only One Who has the power to do these things.

So, the next time you hear one of your church members or "Christian" co workers, or someone who is supposed to be a Bible student say that they can "speak things into existence", tell them to show you! Tell them to speak to your mistakes of many years ago and make them go away. Tell them to bring back your favorite pet who passed away years ago. Tell them to restore that friendship that you lost years ago, for whatever reason. I'm being facetious, but the point I am making is that there is absolutely no possibility that they can do those things. No one can speak and cause something to exist but the Sovereign LORD God.
