Hey guys: I was doing a bit of online research and found that there is actually a website that contains a LIST of bioengineered foods. I'm posting the link below.
Just a little backstory as to how all of my research began: I was going to make some cornbread to go with the chili that I cooked for my family. I had a couple of boxes of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix in the pantry, but I have developed a habit of reading ingredients before I buy or cook anything. To my dismay, I found that the corn muffin mix contains bioengineered ingredients. I immediately threw them in the trash. Needless to say, we did not have any bread with our chili that night, but that gave me the motivation to make the cornbread from scratch. I went to the store the next day to buy corn meal to make the muffins, and what did I find? The corn meal on the shelf was bioengineered!!! I was beside myself. I came home and ranted for a bit, but decided I would not give up. I know of a grocer in the small town where I live, and I figured that he might carry products that are not BE. I went to his store and to my pleasant surprise, I found that he does indeed carry products like meal, flour, muffin mix, etc., that is not BE, and it is ground right here in the county where I live! I am so happy.
Fast forward to today, my daughters and I were talking about the fact that I found that corn meal and that it is actually produced locally. We talked about foods that we don't know whether they are BE or not, and I picked up my laptop and typed in the search "List of Bioengineered Foods". This website was the first one that came up. There were others.
I knew I had to share this information because we have had discussions on this platform about BE foods. I'm sure this list is not exhaustive. I hope this is useful to you guys.
