O LORD our LORD, how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth! who hast set Thy glory above the heavens.
David address the LORD of the people of Israel...his LORD. He addresses the One with Whom he has a personal relationship, the God he knows and the God Who knows him. Consider this if you are a believer in the LORD Jesus Christ: He is also the One with Whom you have a personal relationship. He is the God Who knows you and you know Him. You read His Word and hear directly from Him. You pray to Him and He hears directly from you. He knows you more than any other being on earth. He is there when you are enjoying ecstatic highs or when you are going through devastating trials. He knows what you need and when you need it. He holds your life, your future and the universe in the palm of His hand. He is LORD.
God's glory shines brightly on this earth. When you and I think of what He did for us on the cross at Calvary, how He rescued our dying souls from a burning hell, how He protects us from the enemy in this world, how He meets our needs and consoles our hearts and teaches us what is right and what is not, we cannot help but to give Him praise. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the excellency with which He fathers us. He is a good Father! Jesus said so Himself in Matthew 19:17 and Mark 10:18. He alone deserves all the glory that there is to give. He is God alone. He has no equal. None can rival Him. His glory is set above the heavens.
