2 Timothy 2:15-16
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
The apostle Paul wrote those words to his protege, Timothy. Paul knew that it would be crucial to Timothy's success as a pastor and his growth as a Christian to study God's Word. Understanding and knowledge of God's Word would cause Timothy to develop discernment and wisdom that would carry him forward like nothing else. Paul went on to advise Timothy not to participate in profane talk, because all that would lead to is ungodly behavior.
The same is true for us. If we study God's Word, develop a healthy understanding of the Word, and live out what we learn, we will never have to be ashamed because our lives will be pleasing to God. We should also avoid profane conversations, even on social media, because as believers, we always want our behavior to represent the fact that we belong to the LORD Jesus Christ.
Being a part of the family of God means that we are Christians, or "Christ-like" in our behavior. Being like Christ does not include inappropriate conversation or behavior. It means doing things and saying things that would not offend the Spirit of God. It means that, even though we know we will never be perfect on the earth, we strive for perfection in all our ways. Believers, spend some time today in the study of God's Word!
