Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
This is what I call my "work verse". While in the workplace daily, I try my best to make sure that my walk with Christ is evident before others, saved and unsaved, so that God gets the glory. God is not glorified when people who claim to be Christians behave like the world. How could I draw someone out of the world if my behavior is just like the world?
I remember years ago watching something online starring professing Christians. They were yelling and screaming and arguing with each other. They looked like people in the secular movies and shows. There was nothing about them that would have made them appear to be Christians. As I watched as much as I could, I thought about how God felt watching alongside me. I wondered if these people were really Christians. I wondered if they had ever read this verse. Seems to me that no professing Christian could read this verse and not be affected.
There should never be a time in a Christian's life when someone else questions whether a professing Christian is really saved. As we leave home for work, school or wherever we spend our days, let's make sure that we are ready to represent the God Whom we claim to serve. Let's be that person that everyone sees and knows that he or she is different from the world. Let's be that person that someone looks at and says "I want what they have!"
