Esther 4:13-14
Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.
For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Mordecai gave Esther one last warning. This thing was about to happen! Mordecai warned Esther that no matter how comfortable she felt living in the palace, when the trouble started, she would be affected. Mordecai did not want her to think that it was okay for her to sit on her throne and say nothing to the king on behalf of her people. If she did, there would be deliverance, but it would come from someplace else and someone else. The timing might not be good, there may be some bloodshed in the meantime, and how was she to know that this is not the very time and purpose for which God had elevated her in the first place?
As I compare the Jews back then to the body of Christ today, it is so apparent that there are duties that each of us has been assigned in the kingdom. There are those who are called to preach the Gospel, some to share the Gospel, some to encourage the believers, some to help the widows and the orphans, and the list goes on. Anytime one part of the body does not perform its duties, the entire body suffers. If those of us who are called to share the Gospel in an evangelistic capacity fail to do so, how will the world outside of the church hear the Gospel? If those of us who are called to help the widows and orphans fail, what will they do? Each believer has an important role to play in the body of Christ. If a part of the body does not perform its function, the whole body is off. Operate in your calling today, believers! The rest of us need you!
