Did you know that Campbell's owns a whole bunch of other food companies? I was shocked to learn that they own Pepperidge Farm cookies, Snyder's pretzels, Swanson broths, Pace salsas, Pacific Foods, Prego sauce, V8, Bolthouse Farms, and Plum Organics. They used to own Godiva chocolates, but it appears that they sold them off some time ago for financial reasons. My point is that all of these brands are sitting on the shelf in the store, looking like they are Campbell's competition, while they are actually Campbell's profits!!! So, if they are putting junk in Campbell's soups, can you imagine what they are putting in Snyder's pretzels or Swanson's broths? 😳

Scrolling twitter this morning and found this video of a woman who bought Breyers "ice cream" because they were on sale, buy one get one. She shares the label in this video. Did you realize that Breyers does not even call its product "ice cream" anymore? Because of the ingredients, they would violate FDA regulations if they called it "ice cream", so instead they call it "frozen dairy dessert". I had not even noticed that! (I personally have never liked Breyers "ice cream" but I have bought it because my kids like it.). I know what to look for on Breyers' packaging next time I go to the store! It's Christmastime! During the Christmas season, I love an occasional glass of eggnog. I particularly like the Vanilla Spice flavor from Southern Foods. I decided to read the label this year, and guess what? Even my eggnog "contains bioengineered ingredients". Imagine my disappointment. So this season, I have not been able to enjoy one of my favorite delicacies. I guess I will just look up a recipe and make it myself. If anyone has a good eggnog recipe, please post!

I was in the grocery store today looking for something to make a base for some soup. I used to use V8 juice until I found out that Campbell's owns them, so there's no telling what was in that juice! I looked at the store brand tomato sauce, and what do you know? "CONTAINS A BIOENGINEERED FOOD PRODUCT". I stood there for a second and said, "Dear Jesus, are we going to be able to get away from this stuff?" Tomorrow I am going to our local grocer and ask him for his recommendations.
