Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.

Believer, take heart: we do not have to follow after the ways of the world and the advice of the ungodly. We don't have to do what they do. As a matter of fact, the Word of God commands that we don't. It says, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you..." (2 Corinthians 6:17). The psalmist reminds us that the believer delights in God's commands. The true believer enjoys being different from the world. The true believer knows the value of holy living. The true believer wants to know the ways of the LORD and follow them day and night.

That first word, "blessed", can be interpreted a couple of ways in verse 1. It is often interpreted as "happy", which each believer should be when they are walking closely with the LORD. There should be an internal joy that does not depend on circumstances. It is there even when times are hard. That word is also interpreted as "blessed" or seeing the benefits tangibly from walking with the LORD. In this verse, I think both interpretations apply. As believers, we can see the tangible benefits of living for Jesus, because we know we can go to Him and lay our burdens at His feet in prayer. We also possess that joy that is unexplainable and only accessible to His children.

Believer, as you meditate on God's Word today, let it bless you! Be encouraged by what the LORD says to you in the scriptures. Remember that in the end, when you are following the LORD, you win! God has already won the victory for us. There is no loss in Christ. One day, every believer will receive his or her eternal reward....and it will be great!
