Psalm 7:10-11
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
King David knew who defended him and fough his battles. He knew that God is the ultimate Warrior and the LORD of hosts. Anyone with God on their side is on the winning side! There was no one else in whom he could place his hope. God took care of His own in David's day, and He takes care of His own today. God is the greatest protection that anyone can imagine.
David knew that God saves those who are "upright in heart". Those whose heart has been changed from the worldly to the holy, from the temporal to the everlasting, from the things that will be destroyed to the things that are eternal are those who are saved by the grace of God. God's salvation is everlasting; none can be taken from Him once He fills them with the power of His holy Spirit (John 10:28-29).
God is the Righteous Judge...He judges according to His standard. Those who attempt to live up to His standard find His grace and mercy. They are protected by the only One Who can perform the greatest protection. They are blessed by the only One Who is sovereign over everything. At the same time, He hates wickedness, and would not be the Righteous Judge if He did not. His vengeance and punishment will be meted out against all those who commit wicked acts, those who reject Him, and those who are of their father, the devil. John 3:36 says "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." God's wrath will come down on those who do not obey Him and and do not live according to His standard.
If you are reading these words and do not know Him in saving faith, I urge you not to let this moment pass without committing your life to Him. Acknowledge the fact that you need a Savior, and He is the only One. Confess your sins to Him and ask Him to forgive those sins. Trust Him in your heart and mind, and share that trust with someone close to you who can come alongside you and help you in your new journey. Knowing Jesus is very simple and pays an eternity of reward. Not knowing Him is hard and will cost you forever.
