Antique Cast Iron "Sad Iron" Made in Geneva Illinois between 1830 to 1880 W. H. HOWELL COMPANY, was in business from 1830 to 1880. Please view the pictures, they give a lot of information! This iron has a star on top, I can't tell what the number is. Nor do I have a scale, so I just know it's heavy! It would make a nice door stop! Or for a collector of Antique Irons. They heated the iron on their stove and relied on the heavy mass of cast iron to retain that heat. That had to have made for a rough day or ironing! Sad irons got their name from the English term "Sad" meaning heavy. Sad irons weighed as much as ten pounds. PLEASE NOTE: My pre-owned items are sold “as-is”. them. There may be some minor use marks: light brown spots, utensil marks, paint or gild loss. Which

Vintage Federal Glass Hospitality Snack Sets in Homestead Wheat Pattern With Box 4 Plates 4 Cups Clear Glass 1-56 Is Stamped On Back of Box. Includes 8 pieces; 4 cups and 4 snack trays / plates in Excellent Condition. Plates measures 10 1/8" by 7 1/8". The cups are 3 1/4" across and 2 1/4" tall. It looks to be new, or barely used, the cardboard dividers are still between the plates! Then it may have been a gift to someone because the price sticker was removed from the box lid.
