- Psalm 2:1
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
I am stunned at how the world thinks they can defeat the LORD. They shake their fist in His face because of the standard that He set, the institutions that He ordained, and the commandments that He expects to be obeyed. They think they know better than the LORD what is good for the world. They think they can get away with doing what they want to do with no consequences. They desire to fulfill the lusts of their flesh, and they want to drag as many into their debauchery as possible. How they think they can get away with that for all eternity is laughable.
The psalmist apparently pondered these same thoughts. How could the unsaved shake their fists in the face of the LORD, and imagine that they could defeat Him? No matter how much the world scoffs at the LORD, He is still sovereign. He is still in control. He is still GOD.
If you are reading this and you do not know Him, I would challenge you to ponder your eternity. If you die without a relationship with the LORD Jesus, you will spend eternity in hell. You will stand face to face with Him after you die, and He will reject you. He will not allow you to enter into eternal rest if you have not placed your faith in Him in this life. You do not want to go to hell. Mark 9 describes hell as the place where the worm does not die, there is constant weeping and gnashing of teeth, there is darkness beyond description, and there is the fire that will never be quenched. The thought of that flame causes me to shudder each time I think of it. I hope that no one that I know ends up in hell. Place your faith in Jesus today. If you come to Him in sincerity, He will not reject you (John 6:37). He died for you (John 3:16) and wants you to be saved (2 Peter 3:9). Place your faith in Him today (Romans 10:9-13).Psalm 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? I am stunned at how the world thinks they can defeat the LORD.
