  • May I never forget that the heinousness of my sin lies not so much in the nature of the sin I committed, but more so in the greatness of the One Whom I have sinned against.

  • When believers think the growth and influence of Christ can somehow be allied with government policy, they corrupt the mission of the church. Our Christian mandate is to spread the gospel of Christ and to preach against the sins of our time. Only as the hearts of individuals in a culture are changed by Christ will the culture begin to reflect that change.

  • It's my understanding that there may be an active shooter at the Texas State Fair. Saints, pray.

  • I really like fall. Not only do the temperatures cool down, but in my area of the state, the foliage is so beautiful! We can count on the leaves to change during the second week of October. It is mesmerizing to me...so soothing.

  • Esther 6:13-14
And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.

The day had not been good to Haman. He had just paraded his mortal enemy around downtown Shushan on the king's horse, decked out in the king's garb, shouting to all in attendance that this is the man whom the king delighted to honor. When he went home after what was probably a mentally exhausting day, he had to tell his wife, Zeresh, and all his friends what had happened. This time, Zeresh did not give him bad advice as she had earlier. She and his friends told him the cold hard truth. They advised him that if Mordecai was the one he had to parade around, AND Mordecai was a Jew, things were not going to end well for him. Even while this conversation was taking place, the king's guys came to get Haman to take him to the banquet at the palace.

When the cookies begin to crumble, they usually fall apart pretty fast. That is what was happening to Haman. His plan fell apart right in front of his eyes, and his wife and friends warned him as such. I shared several times the old saying that my grandma used to say: the trap you set just might be for you. Haman was getting ready to realize the truth of that saying sooner rather than later. This is such a good lesson for those who try to plot against other people. It may appear to work out for a moment, but that will not last. It will come back to bite you at some point.

As believers, revenge should never be a part of our lives. God's Word says, "For we know Him that hath said, "Vengeance belongeth unto Me, I will recompense, saith the LORD...."(Hebrews 10:30). Romans 12:19 says, "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, saith the LORD." God's Word assures us that we do not have to worry about taking out our revenge on anyone. God will take care of it. Sometimes He does not do it as quickly as we would, but His timing is always perfect. Sometimes He allows us to witness our enemies get what is coming to them, but there should be no joy in that for us. Let's check our hearts, believers, and make sure that we are not plotting revenge!
