James Lindsay on Gab: '"Secular" doesn't mean what the reactionary Right says it means. Related: Marxism isn't in any way secular. Secular means taking a religiously agnostic—not even neutral—position with regard to the operations of the public environment, particularly on the part of the state. It is not hostile to or promotional of any particular faith or sect over any other. It doesn't mean "no religion." A secular state doesn't hamper Christian or other religious beliefs or, for the most part, practice, and in fact allows it to flourish. It also minimizes sectarian conflict by preventing sects for vying for raw and explicit state power. It is no more anomic than the people in it. All varieties of Marxism are hostile to Christianity and all traditional religions. That's *because* they are a religion (a Gnostic cult) that is destroying competition. They hide themselves within liberal and secular forms like economics and sociology to disguise themselves. The people telling you otherwise are blowhards or frauds. You're not helping yourself or others by listening to them.'
