There's a lot of entrenched poverty and misery in this country, not all of it in plain sight on city streets or the parks. I see it as a first responder in a rural county in a southern state. It's right off the road, hidden in the trees, all around us. Our government has failed us at all levels. We've been complacent for too long. We've been addicted to comfort.
