If Calvary is a place of which you have never heard, it is time. Calvary is the hill on which was planted the cross upon which Jesus Christ died for your sins. Yes, you have sins. No, your "good works" cannot balance them. God's standard is perfection and only One has ever lived up to it - Jesus. He gave His life, His sinless life of perfect obedience, so that you in your disobedience could be reconciled to God. Turn to Him. Have faith in Him. Receive Him and know peace with God that can come only through Him.

"The place which is called Calvary." Luke 23:33

The hill of comfort is the hill of Calvary; the house of consolation is built with the wood of the cross; the temple of heavenly blessing is founded upon the riven rock- riven by the spear which pierced His side. No scene in sacred history ever gladdens the soul like Calvary's tragedy.

"Is it not strange, the darkest hour
That ever dawned on sinful earth,
Should touch the heart with softer power,
For comfort, than an angel's mirth?
That to the Cross the mourner's eye should turn,
Sooner than where the stars of Bethlehem burn?"

Light springs from the midday-midnight of Golgotha, and every herb of the field blooms sweetly beneath the shadow of the once accursed tree. In that place of thirst, grace hath dug a fountain which ever gusheth with waters pure as crystal, each drop capable of alleviating the woes of mankind. You who have had your seasons of conflict, will confess that it was not at Olivet that you ever found comfort, not on the hill of Sinai, nor on Tabor; but Gethsemane, Gabbatha, and Golgotha have been a means of comfort to you. The bitter herbs of Gethsemane have often taken away the bitters of your life; the scourge of Gabbatha has often scourged away your cares, and the groans of Calvary yields us comfort rare and rich. We never should have known Christ's love in all its heights and depths if He had not died; nor could we guess the Father's deep affection if He had not given His Son to die. The common mercies we enjoy all sing of love, just as the sea-shell, when we put it to our ears, whispers of the deep sea whence it came; but if we desire to hear the ocean itself, we must not look at everyday blessings, but at the transactions of the crucifixion. He who would know love, let him retire to Calvary and see the Man of sorrows die.

The people that call themselves nones, that is they say they are unaffiliated with any faith , are actually in league with the devil whether they realize it or not. They are children of the devil, going his way according to the scripture above.

1Timothy 2:9-14
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Paul is teaching his son in the faith, Timothy, how women should carry themselves within the church. Paul admonished them, because this is what the LORD instructed, that they were to dress modestly, and not ostentatiously, drawing attention to themselves. Instead, they were to draw attention to themselves with their good works. Paul went on to say that women were to sit down in church and learn; they were not to "usurp authority" over men. Handling the Word of God in the church setting is the most authoritarian thing a person can do. That role is reserved for men. God is the all wise, all knowing God. God knows that the person who gave in to the serpent in the garden has the propensity to be deceived very easily, and He does not want deception being disseminated within the church. This is not popular theology within the church today, but this is sound doctrinal theology.

Women have enough to do without moving into the role that is strictly designed for men. I cannot imagine being all that I am as God has designed, and taking on the role that God has designed for someone else!!! Women who pretend to be pastors and Bible teachers in the pulpit are being disobedient to God and they will reap the consequences of that disobedience. God was displeased with the church at Thyatira for allowing women to take the pulpit, and He says so in Revelation 2:20: "Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols."

Christians often comply with government dictates with which they disagree because Scripture tells us that all authority is established by God, and disobedience to such authority is disobedience toward God. Does this apply universally and unequivocally to all that government requires of us?

19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

20Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Samuel 15:9
But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and they were not willing to devote them to destruction; but everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.

God told Samuel to tell Agag to kill all of the Amalekites for what they had done to the Israelites. When Israel was leaving Egypt, the Amalekites attacked them. Their destruction under Saul's reign was God's justice for what they had done to His people.
But Saul only completed half the job. He killed all the people and their livestock, but he spared King Agag and the best of his livestock. The decision to only obey part of what God said would not fare well for Saul. As a matter of fact, it would come back to bite the Israelite people as a whole many years later.

Partial obedience is disobedience. When God tells us to do something, we are foolish to think we can get away with only doing part of what He says. God commands our total submission and obedience to Him. He will not settle for part of what He wants. He is God, He is good, and He deserves to be obeyed.

Saul's choice to spare King Agag would come back to haunt the people of Israel many years later when one of his descendants, Haman, would wind up in Shushan where many of the Israelites were held under Persian capture. He would hatch a plan to destroy them. Though his plan was not successful, the people of Israel had to fight for their survival. Had Saul obeyed God and killed ALL the Amalekites, Haman would have never been born. Saul's disobedience haunted his people generations later.

Believers, let's consider the generations to come when we decide whether to obey or disobey God. Our obedience could be a blessing to those who will come after us, and our disobedience could be mean devastation for those who will come after us. Let's make sure we choose obedience every time.
