• Oh the glories of God's salvation. That His covenant depends not upon us, but upon Him and His promise, which He will always remember, is true blessedness.
    -----------

    Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotions

    Evening, August 13

"And I will remember My covenant." Genesis 9:15

Mark the form of the promise. God does not say, "And when ye shall look upon the bow, and ye shall remember My covenant, then I will not destroy the earth," but it is gloriously put, not upon our memory, which is fickle and frail, but upon God's memory, which is infinite and immutable. "The bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant." Oh! it is not my remembering God, it is God's remembering me which is the ground of my safety; it is not my laying hold of His covenant, but His covenant's laying hold on me. Glory be to God! the whole of the bulwarks of salvation are secured by divine power, and even the minor towers, which we may imagine might have been left to man, are guarded by almighty strength. Even the remembrance of the covenant is not left to our memories, for we might forget, but our Lord cannot forget the saints whom He has graven on the palms of His hands. It is with us as with Israel in Egypt; the blood was upon the lintel and the two side-posts, but the Lord did not say, "When you see the blood I will pass over you," but "When I see the blood I will pass over you." My looking to Jesus brings me joy and peace, but it is God's looking to Jesus which secures my salvation and that of all His elect, since it is impossible for our God to look at Christ, our bleeding Surety, and then to be angry with us for sins already punished in Him. No, it is not left with us even to be saved by remembering the covenant. There is no linsey-wolsey here- not a single thread of the creature mars the fabric. It is not of man, neither by man, but of the Lord alone. We should remember the covenant, and we shall do it, through divine grace; but the hinge of our safety does not hang there- it is God's remembering us, not our remembering Him"; and hence the covenant is an everlasting covenant.

  • I love this, brings back fond memories! I remember when my Children were younger, my middle daughter, Whitney, had a time of it with my sons. They were very protective of their little sister! They would "meet" the "boyfriend". Often he didn't last long!

  • How often do you take time to remember what Christ did for you? This is something we should do regularly, not just when we publicly proclaim it through taking communion/the Lord's supper. He gave Himself for us, and we owe Him everything - remember that.

    Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotions

    Morning, April 26

"This do in remembrance of Me." 1 Corinthians 11:24

It seems then, that Christians may forget Christ! There could be no need for this loving exhortation, if there were not a fearful supposition that our memories might prove treacherous. Nor is this a bare supposition: it is, alas! too well confirmed in our experience, not as a possibility, but as a lamentable fact. It appears almost impossible that those who have been redeemed by the blood of the dying Lamb, and loved with an everlasting love by the eternal Son of God, should forget that gracious Saviour; but, if startling to the ear, it is, alas! too apparent to the eye to allow us to deny the crime. Forget Him who never forgot us! Forget Him who poured His blood forth for our sins! Forget Him who loved us even to the death! Can it be possible? Yes, it is not only possible, but conscience confesses that it is too sadly a fault with all of us, that we suffer Him to be as a wayfaring man tarrying but for a night. He whom we should make the abiding tenant of our memories is but a visitor therein. The cross where one would think that memory would linger, and unmindfulness would be an unknown intruder, is desecrated by the feet of forgetfulness. Does not your conscience say that this is true? Do you not find yourselves forgetful of Jesus? Some creature steals away your heart, and you are unmindful of Him upon whom your affection ought to be set. Some earthly business engrosses your attention when you should fix your eye steadily upon the cross. It is the incessant turmoil of the world, the constant attraction of earthly things which takes away the soul from Christ. While memory too well preserves a poisonous weed, it suffereth the rose of Sharon to wither. Let us charge ourselves to bind a heavenly forget-me-not about our hearts for Jesus our Beloved, and, whatever else we let slip, let us hold fast to Him.

I was working and actually having to not be myself...fear of loosing my j o b....long story....NEVER NOT BE YOURSELF...I put up with a bitch...STROKED out at 53. BUT THE LORD was not finished with me...I'm perfectly fine, other than some memories with my children, are gone....and other memories... Had a home... I flushed ALL meds... I use RAW, UNPASTEURIZED, NATURAL HONEY, (home made haha) and Braggs Vinegar with the mother. Been using it since.

    "I will not forget you.
you are in my waking thoughts,
my sweetest memories , my dearest dreams.
    I will not forget you.
You have touched my soul , opened my eyes,
changed my very experience of the universe.
    I will not forget you.
I see you in the flowers , the sunset , the sweep
of the horizon and all things that stretch to infinity.
    I will not forget you.
I have carved you on the palm of my hand.
I carry you with me forever...”
