‘Summer of Resistance’: Docs Reveal How California Teachers Were Trained To Fight Back Against ICE
One of the nation’s largest teachers unions promoted a “summer of resistance” against the federal government and claimed that students had been kidnapped by federal officers. The United Teachers Los Angeles union gave a presentation last year on “Preparing for ICE at your school” that pushed its members to engage in political activism and suggested utilizing school resources to thwart Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, according to materials obtained by Defending Education. The training came after parts of Los Angeles were rocked by violent anti-ICE riots that prompted President Donald Trump to send in the National Guard. The presentation pointed educators to how they could fight back against the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration and urged parents and teachers to collaborate on “resistance” efforts. It appeared to be created as part of the union’s broader efforts “to build a comprehensive to immigration enforcement.” Defending Education director of research Rhyen Staley told The Daily Wire that the training was another example of how teachers’ unions push leftist politics over education. “Unfortunately, these documents are another reminder that the teachers’ unions, especially UTLA, are focused on far-left social justice activism and advancing unpopular ideologies over how to improve the academic outcomes of the students they serve,” he told The Daily Wire. “But what is deeply appalling is the willingness of teachers to incentivize minors to engage in radical practices that could potentially put them in harm’s way.”The training, which Defending Education noted was created by two members of the union and teachers at the Los Angeles Unified School District, walked educators through legal actions taken to block certain ICE operations in Los Angeles over the summer that culminated in a leftist judge blocking the agency from conducting broad immigration sweeps. The training did not appear to mention the violence of the anti-ICE protests, which included setting cop cars on fire, vandalism, and assaults on state and federal law enforcement. Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images.“The fight is far from over, we need to keep fighting together!” a slide shared with educators read. Another slide titled “What can you do?” instructed educators on how to take action against ICE operations. The suggested actions included joining “court watch and rally calls,” and funding “community defense work.”“The government will likely fight back. But the spotlight is now on DHS’s unlawful practices — and our resistance is working!” the slide read. These resources appeared to be pulled from the used materials from the National Day Laborer Organizing Network.Training obtained by Defending Education.Another slide highlighted alleged “student kidnappings,” including one that involved a 6-year-old boy with leukemia who was kept with his illegal immigrant parents after an immigration judge ruled against their case. He was not denied or prevented from accessing medical treatment, as was suggested in some reports. One slide listed specific actions the United Teachers Los Angeles had taken regarding the ICE raids. This included partnering with “other unions for the summer of resistance” for “20 days of non-violent protest and action.” It also noted that the union and the Los Angeles Unified School District had agreed to “bargaining language” that declares that “the buildings and grounds of LAUSD (including pick-up and drop-off sites at all entries and exits) are sanctuary spaces for all students, parents, administrators, bargaining unit members, and community members at the school for school-related business and jointly committed to defend the right to a free and safe learning environment to the extent permitted by law.”A spokesman for the district told The Daily Wire that it “follows applicable laws and District policies, which employees are expected to follow during the workday and in their interactions with students.”The next slide featured suggested actions for members of the union, including “community patrols,” “age-appropriate rallies,” and in-school student protests.Training obtained by Defending Education. The training documents also suggest using Local School Leadership Councils “as a form of resistance.” These are groups of elected parents, community members, and school officials who oversee certain aspects of school policy. One of the policy areas this group oversees is discipline and student safety, and suggestions included the LAUSD “revamping tardy policy to get students into building,” pushing “LAUSD for ‘lock down’ if ICE is on/near campus – shelter in place,” “engaging students in community self-defense – offer service learning hours,” keeping “students away from gates at lunch/recess,” and “patroling school sites depending on community.”Defending Education.Other notes suggested using professional development time to make “immigration kits.”Last month, the Department of Homeland Security withdrew a Biden-era policy that stipulated that schools were off limits for immigration enforcement operations. “Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said on January 21.

  • This is how ideological takeover works.

A destructive foreign ideology takes the scent of familiar ideas and walks in as if it belongs.
It speaks the native vocabulary, justice, equality, compassion, rights, progress. It uses these words and quietly changes what they point to.

    Then it moves inward.

It alters how foundations are perceived. Responsibility is made to smell like cruelty, law like oppression, borders like hatred, tradition like danger, history like guilt.
At that point, the civilization turns on itself.

Its courts, universities, churches, media, and bureaucracies begin treating their own foundations as threats. They believe they are defending the system.
They are enforcing what now smells legitimate. They do not see the intruder because it sounds exactly like them.

And when the founding principles are finally removed, discredited, dismantled, erased, the foreign ideology does not need to conquer anything. It inherits what is left.

There is a species of ant that approaches the edge of another colony, kills a single worker, and then takes on the dead ant’s scent. For ants, scent is everything. Wearing that scent, the intruder walks in with no resistance. The workers pass by without concern. The intruder moves inward, toward the queen, then It sprays the queen with a different scent that makes the workers turn on her. Then they surround her and kill her. The intruder does not need to fight anyone. The colony does the work itself. Once the queen is gone, the intruder reproduces. The true invader is no longer an intruder. It is the future. This is how ideological takeover works. A destructive foreign ideology takes the scent of familiar ideas and walks in as if it belongs. It speaks the native vocabulary, justice, equality, compassion, rights, progress. It uses these words and quietly changes what they point to. Then it moves inward. The colony is no longer itself. The most effective conquest is the one that convinces a society that its own foundations are the enemy, and that killing them is an act of virtue.

  • Brethren, do you “know how to live in prosperity” (Phil. 4:12)? Paul did. He understood how God wants us to live in every circumstance, whether being filled or going hungry, whether having abundance or being in need, Paul was able “to do all things through Him” (Phil. 4:12-13).

We should understand this “secret” as Paul called it. Part of that secret is thankfulness, regardless of circumstance. Another part is recognition of God’s hand in the situation.

When we are in need, we naturally turn to God and ask for relief. When we are in need, we instinctually remember that there is a God, though some will curse or question Him rather than thank Him. But when we abound…

It is easy to look at where we are, and if in abundance think, “wow, I have really done well for myself.” It is easy in such days to turn to our own ways, to forget that God is there, because we believe we have all we need. Yet God warned Israel of such thinking. In Deuteronomy 8, He exhorts, “Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes which I am commanding you today…Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth’” (Deut. 8:11,17).

Whether in plenty or in want, we must never forget the God who created us, who cares for us, who saves us. So regardless of circumstance, remember God, who has promised to draw near if you will but draw near to Him (Jas. 4:8), and “in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thes. 5:18).

    ——————
    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Morning, February 10

"I know how to abound." Philippians 4:12

There are many who know "how to be abased" who have not learned "how to abound." When they are set upon the top of a pinnacle their heads grow dizzy, and they are ready to fall. The Christian far oftener disgraces his profession in prosperity than in adversity. It is a dangerous thing to be prosperous. The crucible of adversity is a less severe trial to the Christian than the fining-pot of prosperity. Oh, what leanness of soul and neglect of spiritual things have been brought on through the very mercies and bounties of God! Yet this is not a matter of necessity, for the apostle tells us that he knew how to abound. When he had much he knew how to use it. Abundant grace enabled him to bear abundant prosperity. When he had a full sail he was loaded with much ballast, and so floated safely. It needs more than human skill to carry the brimming cup of mortal joy with a steady hand, yet Paul had learned that skill, for he declares, "In all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry." It is a divine lesson to know how to be full, for the Israelites were full once, but while the flesh was yet in their mouth, the wrath of God came upon them. Many have asked for mercies that they might satisfy their own hearts' lust. Fulness of bread has often made fulness of blood, and that has brought on wantonness of spirit. When we have much of God's providential mercies, it often happens that we have but little of God's grace, and little gratitude for the bounties we have received. We are full and we forget God: satisfied with earth, we are content to do without heaven. Rest assured it is harder to know how to be full than it is to know how to be hungry- so desperate is the tendency of human nature to pride and forgetfulness of God. Take care that you ask in your prayers that God would teach you "how to be full."

"Let not the gifts Thy love bestows
    Estrange our hearts from Thee."

  • What a lying dirtbag.
Violence increased while they were arresting Criminals - no duh Sherlock, criminals fought back like they almost always do!
It is safer - that's what a 30% decrease in homicides means!
Brandon is pissed because he was shown to be an incompetent boob

"Johnson made the remarks during an appearance on MSNOW’s “The Weekend,” where he was asked whether Trump was correct in saying his actions improved public safety in Chicago.

“He is not,” Johnson replied, accusing Trump of increasing “instability” in the country.

“Where ICE and federal agents were present, we actually saw an increase in violence. In other words, the tension and the chaos that federal agents bring to cities in America, it actually is counter-productive,” he claimed.

However, Johnson then acknowledged a sharp decline in violent crime. “Yes, we saw a 30 percent reduction in homicides, shooting, shooting victims, all down,” he said.

Johnson also accused Trump of escalating tensions with local governments, claiming the president has “literally declared war on American cities.” Johnson pointed to executive orders he signed in response that were aimed at limiting federal immigration enforcement, including efforts to create ICE-free zones in cities."
