On October 10, 2025, Google Gemini AI was 'turned on' automatically whereby all incoming mail and attachments are scanned.
Instructions to disable this 'feature':
1. Open Gmail using your browser.
2. Click the Gear icon (upper right).
3. Select "See all settings".
- General tab is displayed by default
4. Scroll to "Smart features and personalization".
5. Uncheck the checkbox.
6. Scroll to "Google Workspace smart features".
7. Toggle off both features in Google Workspace and Google Products.
8. Click Save.
I would recommend that you create email accounts at protonmail.com.
There are other privacy oriented free email providers, but protonmail was one of the first and is well known.

- Duffner Will the site be very different from this one? I personally love the simplicity of this site, the bright look, the colorful backgrounds, the format...all that. And what will happen to the groups we've formed? Will the blogs transfer? What will happen to all our follows?
