Beloved, there is a reason that sloth is considered one of the “seven deadly sins.” While such a list can be said only loosely to be founded in Scripture, laziness is spoken against in many a passage.

We are told in Proverbs that “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, then your poverty will come as a robber and your want like an armed man” (Prov. 24:33-34). Thinking we can while away our time and not pay consequences is foolishness. Laziness results in poverty.

Conversely, productivity and hard work result in sustenance, at the very least. This is, unfortunately, a result of living in a fallen world. As God promised Adam, “Cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; and you will eat the plants of the field; by the sweat of your face you will eat bread, until you return to the ground” (Gen. 3:17-19).

We often believe there is virtue in giving to those who lack, but how frequently do we consider the reason for that lack? Paul himself taught that “if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either” (2 Thes. 3:10). This echoes the admonition from Proverbs.

Therefore, let no one among the body of Christ lead an undisciplined life, not working but eating of the bread of others; instead let us work for and eat the fruit of our own labors and never grow weary of doing good (2 Thes. 3:12-13).

The worst of sluggards only ask for a little slumber; they would be indignant if they were accused of thorough idleness. A little folding of the hands to sleep is all they crave, and they have a crowd of reasons to show that this indulgence is a very proper one. Yet by these littles the day ebbs out, and the time for labour is all gone, and the field is grown over with thorns. It is by little procrastinations that men ruin their souls. They have no intention to delay for years- a few months will bring the more convenient season- tomorrow if you will, they will attend to serious things; but the present hour is so occupied and altogether so unsuitable, that they beg to be excused. Like sands from an hour-glass, time passes, life is wasted by driblets, and seasons of grace lost by little slumbers. Oh, to be wise, to catch the flying hour, to use the moments on the wing! May the Lord teach us this sacred wisdom, for otherwise a poverty of the worst sort awaits us, eternal poverty which shall want even a drop of water, and beg for it in vain. Like a traveller steadily pursuing his journey, poverty overtakes the slothful, and ruin overthrows the undecided: each hour brings the dreaded pursuer nearer; he pauses not by the way, for he is on his master's business and must not tarry. As an armed man enters with authority and power, so shall want come to the idle, and death to the impenitent, and there will be no escape. O that men were wise be-times, and would seek diligently unto the Lord Jesus, or ere the solemn day shall dawn when it will be too late to plough and to sow, too late to repent and believe. I haven't read this yet. However I can say that she is correct. One thing I completely hated was when people said " it is for the best" "you have other Children" "the baby is in a better place than here" Or " your son is in a much better place". I let them know it. Another thing I can say is NEVER GO TO A DOCTOR OR NURSE OR BUSINESS FOR "SOMEONE THAT HAS LOST A CHILD(REN). YOU DON'T GRIEVE THROUGH A BOOK OR WHATEVER "PROFESSIONALS" TELL YOU. Brethren, how easy it is to be sucked into foolish and pointless controversies. Do you often find yourself arguing about minutiae of the Mosaic law? Do you get into disputes over genealogies? Why?

Do you not know that Scripture says such quibbles are “unprofitable and worthless” (Tit. 3:9)? People who incite these disputations are to be warned once, and again, but after, are to be eschewed. Men creating controversy are, as Paul wrote, “preverted”, “sinning,” “self-condemned” (Tit. 3:11).

Beloved, do not squander your time bickering over who sired who, or about the Law which Christ fulfilled and from the curse of which Jesus redeemed us. Instead, “let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near” (Heb. 10:24-25).

We should be focused on that which draws us near to God that He may draw near to us (Jas. 4:8), on that which allows Christ to more fully live through us (Gal. 2:20), on that which edifies the Church (1 Cor. 14:12), which is the body of Christ (Col. 1:24).

Therefore, brethren, let us “avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife” (Tit. 3:9), and instead “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” (Mt. 6:33). It is to this that we are called, and it is this which pleases our Father who is in Heaven.

"Avoid foolish questions." Titus 3:9

Our days are few, and are far better spent in doing good, than in disputing over matters which are, at best, of minor importance. The old schoolmen did a world of mischief by their incessant discussion of subjects of no practical importance; and our Churches suffer much from petty wars over abstruse points and unimportant questions. After everything has been said that can be said, neither party is any the wiser, and therefore the discussion no more promotes knowledge than love, and it is foolish to sow in so barren a field. Questions upon points wherein Scripture is silent; upon mysteries which belong to God alone; upon prophecies of doubtful interpretation; and upon mere modes of observing human ceremonials, are all foolish, and wise men avoid them. Our business is neither to ask nor answer foolish questions, but to avoid them altogether; and if we observe the apostle's precept (Titus 3:8) to be careful to maintain good works, we shall find ourselves far too much occupied with profitable business to take much interest in unworthy, contentious, and needless strivings.

There are, however, some questions which are the reverse of foolish, which we must not avoid, but fairly and honestly meet, such as these: Do I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? Am I renewed in the spirit of my mind? Am I walking not after the flesh, but after the Spirit? Am I growing in grace? Does my conversation adorn the doctrine of God my Saviour? Am I looking for the coming of the Lord, and watching as a servant should do who expects his master? What more can I do for Jesus? Such enquiries as these urgently demand our attention; and if we have been at all given to cavilling, let us now turn our critical abilities to a service so much more profitable. Let us be peacemakers, and endeavour to lead others both by our precept and example, to "avoid foolish questions."

How can the government lose people
that are in the system?

I can't understand why nor how the government can "loose" any information regarding illegals. Here is why. I worked for the state of Illinois, in 2005-2005 I worked in a division of DHS. It was called "All Kids" at the time. It was called many different names, the latest being "obama care". I know that this was at least in one other state as well. I and someone else commented on a post on MeWe. It was going on in the 70's as well. It was an, "insurance" if you remember. BUT it was more than that.

We had 2 floors, of a state building, filing cabinets, banana boxes everywhere. Yes banana boxes lined the hallways. Boxes on top of filing cabinets.

EVERYONE was entered into the system.

The illegals were brought up, by the government. In Illinois, they were GIVEN: Homes, Businesses, Clothing, Phones, Vehicles, Free Insurance, Phones, EVERYTHING. Kicker, I will never forget, a so called "family" of 3, different last names, came across my desk. They were up from the border within 3 days time. They were taken to Chicago, to the Social Security office. They received, along with Everything else, $5,600 a month. It was called "temporary" Social Security.

BUT there was no such thing as "temporary" and Illegals weren't getting anything for free. That is the answer that they would give anyone that tried to find out about it.

I had a friend that I had known from school, she always worked, till she found out that she had MS. Three different times, she went to try to get on disability SS. Was told, no, she could work, the third time, she was in both leg and arm braces. Years later, she was Finally able to get a lousy $300.00 a month.

My ex husband, was a walker (mail carrier) (walked the hills to deliver mail) for the post office in St. Louis. He was going through a lot of pain, had 5 discs rubbing. Bone on bone. He called me and told me that he was told there was no such thing as "temporary" SS. Because at the time, he was going though the post office, and they were NOT willing, as we all know, it is hard to get "workman's comp". So he went to the SS office.

I knew, of people that were AMERICAN'S that were NOT making it on the EXTREMELY low SS, they had paid into.

I tried every way to get transferred into a different department, and wasn't allowed. So on December 5th 2005, I quit.

So, you see, many of you think that the illegals have JUST been coming up in RECENT years, no, but for DECADES.

And, you now see, if you didn't already know that YOU are paying, IF you are on "obama care" and they never did.

The illegals ALSO received the Money for seven years, once started. Which was immediately.

They don't come WALKING up in flip flops, New Clean clothes, New phones, etc. That is all staged.

The only "good thing" that came out of this. I knew what was going on, and can tell everyone, everywhere. I tried then, and no one would listen.....

Boycotting companies that promote ungodliness and celebrate perverseness and depravity has gone a long way, but that is still not enough in the end. There also needs to be an establishment of businesses and corporations that promote godly values and are able to compete against those that are depraved and evil.
