• Beloved brethren, do you drink deeply from the Lord? Scripture informs us that “the trees of the LORD drink their fill” (Ps. 104:16). If the trees themselves so deeply drink, how much more those chosen of the Lord to receive His Spirit?

Without water, the tree withers and dies. Without drinking from our Lord, our spirits languish.

Our Lord provides living water (Jn. 4:10). Jesus taught that those who drink the water He offers would never thirst, but that it would become within him a wellspring of life (Jn. 4:14).

Believer, are you parched? Why so? Access to the Source Is freely available to you. Take time today to pray, meditate on His word, and drink deeply that your spirit would be sated by the spring of the water of life (Rev. 21:6).

    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Morning, October 24

"The trees of the Lord are full of sap." Psalm 104:16

Without sap the tree cannot flourish or even exist. Vitality is essential to a Christian. There must be life- a vital principle infused into us by God the Holy Ghost, or we cannot be trees of the Lord. The mere name of being a Christian is but a dead thing, we must be filled with the spirit of divine life. This life is mysterious. We do not understand the circulation of the sap, by what force it rises, and by what power it descends again. So the life within us is a sacred mystery. Regeneration is wrought by the Holy Ghost entering into man and becoming man's life; and this divine life in a believer afterwards feeds upon the flesh and blood of Christ and is thus sustained by divine food, but whence it cometh and whither it goeth who shall explain to us? What a secret thing the sap is! The roots go searching through the soil with their little spongioles, but we cannot see them suck out the various gases, or transmute the mineral into the vegetable; this work is done down in the dark. Our root is Christ Jesus, and our life is hid in Him; this is the secret of the Lord. The radix of the Christian life is as secret as the life itself. How permanently active is the sap in the cedar! In the Christian the divine life is always full of energy- not always in fruit-bearing, but in inward operations. The believer's graces, are not every one of them in constant motion? but his life never ceases to palpitate within. He is not always working for God, but his heart is always living upon Him. As the sap manifests itself in producing the foliage and fruit of the tree, so with a truly healthy Christian, his grace is externally manifested in his walk and conversation. If you talk with him, he cannot help speaking about Jesus. If you notice his actions you will see that he has been with Jesus. He has so much sap within, that it must fill his conduct and conversation with life.

Amazon Web Services Cloud that Stores the CIA’s Data Goes Down and Takes Much of the Internet Down as Well
At the time of my writing this (Monday, 10/20/25), much of the Internet is still down due to a problem with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the largest Cloud provider in the world. While AWS initially said the problem was related to a DNS (Domain Name System) issue that they had fixed, the outages have continued and AWS is now looking at other problems. CNN is reporting that the estimate for the total cost of the outage could reach hundreds of billions of dollars. What is rather amazing, so far, is that the corporate media, in unison, is either not even exploring the possibility that this is a cyberattack, or they are downplaying it, saying that it is "unlikely", without giving any reason why they believe that. So I will speculate about the possibility that this is a cyberattack that is potentially being concealed from the public, because it might be attacking the CIA's presence in the AWS cloud in northern Virginia.

Doctors, lawyers and scientists who support the warning label said Kenvue has known for years about the risks of taking acetaminophen during pregnancy, but rejected the science for fear of triggering more lawsuits.

  • Christian, when you are in need or in dire straits, or just in general, do you call out to God your Maker? Do you acknowledge Him as your Maker?

God is creator of all and by His will all things exist (Neh. 9:6; Rev. 4:11). The earth and all that is in it belong to Him (Deut. 10:14; Ps. 24:1). What shall man give to or do for God, or what do we have to offer Him that we did not first receive from Him (Acts 17:25; Rom. 11:34-35).

We are but vessels of clay, made for the Potter’s good pleasure (Rom. 9:19-24). Should we not then look to Him in and for all things? It is He who gives us joy. It is He who causes us to sing. It is He who gives songs in the night.

Let us lift up our voices with the songs He gives, that He might be glorified as He desires and deserves.

    ——————
    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Evening, October 19

“God, my Maker, who giveth songs in the night." Job 35:10

Any man can sing in the day. When the cup is full, man draws inspiration from it. When wealth rolls in abundance around him, any man can praise the God who gives a plenteous harvest or sends home a loaded argosy. It is easy enough for an Aeolian harp to whisper music when the winds blow- the difficulty is for music to swell forth when no wind is stirring. It is easy to sing when we can read the notes by daylight; but he is skilful who sings when there is not a ray of light to read by- who sings from his heart. No man can make a song in the night of himself; he may attempt it, but he will find that a song in the night must be divinely inspired. Let all things go well, I can weave songs, fashioning them wherever I go out of the flowers that grow upon my path; but put me in a desert, where no green thing grows, and wherewith shall I frame a hymn of praise to God? How shall a mortal man make a crown for the Lord where no jewels are? Let but this voice be clear, and this body full of health, and I can sing God's praise: silence my tongue, lay me upon the bed of languishing, and how shall I then chant God's high praises, unless He Himself give me the song? No, it is not in man's power to sing when all is adverse, unless an altar-coal shall touch his lip. It was a divine song, which Habakkuk sang, when in the night he said, "Although the fig-tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." Then, since our Maker gives songs in the night, let us wait upon Him for the music. O Thou chief musician, let us not remain songless because affliction is upon us, but tune Thou our lips to the melody of thanksgiving.

Life Without the Internet? One Country Lost their Internet Cable to the World, and Life Reverted back to 1880 Standards
A new book was published this week by journalist Samanth Subramanian titled: The Web Beneath the Waves - The Fragile Cables that Connect Our World. Here is the publisher's description of the book: "What if the Internet goes dark? We think of the Internet as wireless, weightless, ever-present—but its true foundation lies in the ocean’s depths, where nearly 900,000 miles of fiber-optic cables quietly pulse with all the world’s information. In The Web Beneath the Waves, the acclaimed journalist Samanth Subramanian travels from remote Pacific islands to secretive cable-laying operations to reveal the astonishing world of undersea infrastructure. He reveals the fate of Tonga after a volcanic eruption severs its only undersea link to the Internet." Emily Forlini, writing for PCMag, published a great review of the book today: "A single underwater cable the size of a garden hose connected Tonga to the outside world—until a natural disaster struck. And it could happen to anyone. It all started with an underwater volcanic eruption. Debris shot into the air, gathering force as it cascaded down the volcano's flanks, plunged back into the ocean, and sliced Tonga's only international internet cable in two places, like cutting out the middle of a submarine sandwich. Now, Tonga was officially alone, with no physical or digital connection to the outside world and no way to call for help. 'I initially thought Tonga would be thrown back, to say, the 1980s, before it had broadband internet,' says Samanth Subramanian. 'But it was more like they went back to the 1880s, around the time they first laid a telegraph line to Tonga, and they would only receive occasional visitors by ship.' Thrown back in time, residents resorted to paper record-keeping for banking (no credit cards), traveled door-to-door to speak to each other, and grew their own food." As disastrous as these cable cuts are on the backbone of Internet worldwide traffic, they pale in comparison to cyberattacks, with daily occurrences in the millions, perhaps hundreds of millions, every single day!

New Cyber Attack Threatens to Bring Down U.S. Government and Corporate America’s Networks
A new cybersecurity emergency directive has just been issued by the U.S. Federal Government, through their Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), warning that thousands of networks operated by the US government and Fortune 500 companies face an “imminent threat” of being breached by a nation-state hacking group. This is being widely reported in the media today, mostly in the Tech sector, although it is not headline news as it should be. Whether an attack on government and corporate networks is imminent or not, this is a REAL threat, and is not hyperbole. There are speculative reports that China is behind this, but China vehemently denies this. Our current day use of technology where just a handful of American Big Tech companies control the flow of information through the Internet through their "cybersecurity" products, shows the extreme danger of consolidation in the tech sector, where the same "security" software products are used by most of the governments and corporations around the world, making them easy targets by well-funded hackers. As the U.S. corporate media fixes their attention on potential "hot war" scenarios in places like Venezuela, Russia and Ukraine, and in Gaza and the rest of the Middle East, a major cyber attack like this could be far more catastrophic. A cyber attack that brings down the major networks needed to run this country and keep the lights on for everyone will be far more devastating and disastrous than bombs and bullets flying through the air.

  • Christian, when you come before God in prayer, are you like the Pharisee who stood and proudly claimed to not be a sinner like the tax collector standing nearby, or like the tax collector who wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven (Mt. 18:10-13)? Do you come boasting of your virtue, or humbly recognizing your lack and need of God’s mercy (Mt.18:10-13)? I tell you, it is the latter Good seeks.

Prayer not only allows us to commune and communicate with God, it teaches and reminds us of our reliance upon Him.

While we may, and are encouraged as believers, to approach His throne in confidence with our requests, we must never think more highly of ourselves than we ought, but to be sober and of sound judgement a (Rom. 12:3).

Paul tells us we are to lift up holy hands in prayer (1 Tim. 2:8), as did many in the Old Testament, reaching up to our Father in our desire to receive into those open and upturned hands the answer to our supplication. Yet Paul also reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient for us, because in our weakness, God’s strength is made manifest (2 Cor. 12:9).

Let us, therefore, come into His presence with humility that He may exalt us (Jas. 4:10).

    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Morning, October 11

"Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens." Lamentations 3:41

The act of prayer teaches us our unworthiness, which is a very salutary lesson for such proud beings as we are. If God gave us favours without constraining us to pray for them we should never know how poor we are, but a true prayer is an inventory of wants, a catalogue of necessities, a revelation of hidden poverty. While it is an application to divine wealth, it is a confession of human emptiness. The most healthy state of a Christian is to be always empty in self and constantly depending upon the Lord for supplies; to be always poor in self and rich in Jesus; weak as water personally, but mighty through God to do great exploits; and hence the use of prayer, because, while it adores God, it lays the creature where it should be, in the very dust. Prayer is in itself, apart from the answer which it brings, a great benefit to the Christian. As the runner gains strength for the race by daily exercise, so for the great race of life we acquire energy by the hallowed labour of prayer. Prayer plumes the wings of God's young eaglets, that they may learn to mount above the clouds. Prayer girds the loins of God's warriors, and sends them forth to combat with their sinews braced and their muscles firm. An earnest pleader cometh out of his closet, even as the sun ariseth from the chambers of the east, rejoicing like a strong man to run his race. Prayer is that uplifted hand of Moses which routs the Amalekites more than the sword of Joshua; it is the arrow shot from the chamber of the prophet foreboding defeat to the Syrians. Prayer girds human weakness with divine strength, turns human folly into heavenly wisdom, and gives to troubled mortals the peace of God. We know not what prayer cannot do! We thank thee, great God, for the mercy-seat, a choice proof of thy marvellous lovingkindness. Help us to use it aright throughout this day!
