Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

When God created man, He gave him the gift of being fruitful. He told man to multiply himself upon the earth.  In other words, God told man to go out and make babies!  He wanted the earth to be replenished.  I have always thought to myself how much God must have loved the idea of family for Him to command mankind to "replenish" the earth.

Think of the word "replenish".  By definition, replenish means to "make full or complete".  God told man to make the earth full of replicas of himself.  The completeness of the earth depends on man's obedience to this command.

God gave man "dominion over the fish of the sea and the fowl of the air",  Man neither created for these creatures nor provides for them but God gave him power over them.  This dominion was an honor that God bestowed upon mankind.  Of course, this honor was lost in the fall.  Man did not honor the God Who created him, and the price of that disobedience included losing complete dominion over the inferior creatures. Mankind still possesses a measure of dominion, but not to the full extent that God initially intended.  Fortunately for mankind, the Savior came to the earth, lived a sinless life, then died a criminal's death to redeem all that was lost in man's disobedience to the Father.  Humanity is the only creature that has the possibility of leaving this earth and spending eternity with Jesus.

If you have not placed your faith in Christ, I strongly suggest that you don't let this moment pass.  Repent of your life of sin and ask the LORD to save you (Romans 10:9-13).  Submit your life to obedience to Him, and He will not reject you (John 6:37).  He has prepared a place for you (John 14:2) so that you can be with Him in all perfection.  Do not leave this life without placing your faith in Him.  The other option is eternal hell (Mark 9).
