It's been suggested that this group may be able to help...I'm not a technical person and recently bought a 'preloaded' laptop which is totally new to me...new system and had never had or used a laptop before. With MUCH very patient help I'm gaining:) There are several programs installed that I don't even know what they are and I'm wondering if it's safe to 'uninstall' them...Blanket, Eyedropper, Logseq and I've heard of Free CAD but have certainly never used it nor do I understand it:) Also any opinions on using pass keys or two factor authentication? I've heard pros and cons on both. Thanks for any and all suggestions/help.

For those members who use gmail.
On October 10, 2025, Google Gemini AI was 'turned on' automatically whereby all incoming mail and attachments are scanned.
Instructions to disable this 'feature':
1. Open Gmail using your browser.
2. Click the Gear icon (upper right).
3. Select "See all settings".
- General tab is displayed by default
4. Scroll to "Smart features and personalization".
5. Uncheck the checkbox.
6. Scroll to "Google Workspace smart features".
7. Toggle off both features in Google Workspace and Google Products.
8. Click Save.

I would recommend that you create email accounts at protonmail.com.
There are other privacy oriented free email providers, but protonmail was one of the first and is well known.

Regardless of which email provider you use, do not participate in Two-Factor Authentication, sometime shown as 2FA.

I've heard of some new members having issues with the confirmation email when registering. I also see in the Admin, that others don't have any issues. I cannot troubleshoot an issue when I have no data to go on.

The application currently running cre8aplace.com was intended to be temporary while I completed work on my own version. Well, the latest batch of registration errors has prompted me to complete my original application, and ditch this one.

Don't worry, this will not happen overnight, nor will there be extended outages.

The general use of the site will always remain free. Some features, like scheduling posts in the future, are paid features because the application is geared toward companies rather than individuals. Other paid features include Movies, a Market place, and some games simply because of the bandwidth requirements.

Since my original project was a complete rewrite of facebook functionality -- Minus the censorship and overreach -- I am going to ask you, the members, to list in the comment section what features/functionality you want to have and I will do my best to make it happen. If you reference another website when listing a feature, please include a link to an example as I am not a member of many websites.

Howdy folks!
Just a quick note about the upload limit of this server. I have tightened the max file size to 2MB a while back. For those of you that use a phone, chances are your photos are much larger than this size.
If you do encounter the error about exceeding the file size, simply go to any free image resizing websites, such as imageresizer.com, etc to generate a smaller copy of your image.
A good rule of thumb is, depending on the orientation (portrait or landscape), specify 1200 pixels for the longest side. This will ensure your image is now small enough to upload.

To embed a video (youtube, vimeo, etc.) you only need click the "What's on your mind" area. The dialog box will expand with other options. Just paste the url and click Post.

If you take a profile photo with your phone, please be sure to resize it down to a reasonable size (eg, 600px on the longest side), otherwise you will get error message complaining about your photo is too big.

Hello all!
There has been an issue with the email provider for the past few months, in that new users are not receiving the confirmation emails during registration. I have been manually approving these users.
The email issue continues to elude me as I get emails from users at various times, so the incoming emails apparently function correctly.
This is just a heads up, though. If you have someone that wishes to join, please let them know that I will approve them as soon as I get the notice.
