  • Christian, are you tormented by sin? Not just your own, but that which takes place around you? Are you distraught over the general sinfulness of society?

You should be. Sin should have an impact on all believers, whether personal sin or that of others. Of course, our own sin should be waning as we are sanctified daily by walking in the Spirit. But that of the world will ever surround us.

David lamented the sinfulness of the wicked (Ps. 119:53). Likewise, Lot was tormented by the lawless deeds committed by the “unprincipled men” of Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Pet. 2:7-8). Yet He rescued Lot out of the situation.

In the same way, God will one day rescue us. The lawlessness by which we are daily surrounded will be wiped from the earth, and those committing it will meet a fitting end.

Therefore, while we are yet here, let us pray for strength to be kept from such lawlessness, for eyes to be opened to the truth as we preach the gospel that there might be fewer participating in it, that those who continue in sinfulness despite the gospel will receive their just reward, and that we might receive comfort from the sin abounding while we remain in this fallen world.

    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Evening, November 2

"Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake Thy law." Psalm 119:53

My soul, feelest thou this holy shuddering at the sins of others? for otherwise thou lackest inward holiness. David's cheeks were wet with rivers of waters because of prevailing unholiness; Jeremiah desired eyes like fountains that he might lament the iniquities of Israel, and Lot was vexed with the conversation of the men of Sodom. Those upon whom the mark was set in Ezekiel's vision, were those who sighed and cried for the abominations of Jerusalem. It cannot but grieve gracious souls to see what pains men take to go to hell. They know the evil of sin experimentally, and they are alarmed to see others flying like moths into its blaze. Sin makes the righteous shudder, because it violates a holy law, which it is to every man's highest interest to keep; it pulls down the pillars of the commonwealth. Sin in others horrifies a believer, because it puts him in mind of the baseness of his own heart: when he sees a transgressor he cries with the saint mentioned by Bernard, "He fell today, and I may fall tomorrow." Sin to a believer is horrible, because it crucified the Saviour; he sees in every iniquity the nails and spear. How can a saved soul behold that cursed kill-Christ sin without abhorrence? Say, my heart, dost thou sensibly join in all this? It is an awful thing to insult God to His face. The good God deserves better treatment, the great God claims it, the just God will have it, or repay His adversary to his face. An awakened heart trembles at the audacity of sin, and stands alarmed at the contemplation of its punishment. How monstrous a thing is rebellion! How direful a doom is prepared for the ungodly! My soul, never laugh at sin's fooleries, lest thou come to smile at sin itself. It is thine enemy, and thy Lord's enemy- view it with detestation, for so only canst thou evidence the possession of holiness, without which no man can see the Lord.

  • Archaeology may be vindicating the historical accounts of scripture again as words written in the name of Moses were discovered in an ancient Egyptian mine. Other findings suggest a spiritual conflict between the Israelites and their Egyptian overseers, plus inscriptions linked to Semitic peoples holding positions of power in Egypt at one time in Egyptian history which would be consistent with the Genesis account of the Patriarch Joseph who was sold into slavery and later became the vice-regent of the then-reigning Pharaoh.

  • David was chosen by God. Chosen to be king. Yet prior to being crowned, he was persecuted. And by whom? By the king.

What a beautiful picture of our faith this paints. We too, while we abide here in these tents made of flesh, will be hated by the world (Jn. 15:18-19). We will even be despised and persecuted by authorities, as were the apostles, simply for believing in and preaching Jesus (Acts 5:12-18).

As did David, we sometimes weary of the battle as we await our crown. We may even feel like failures. David believed he was going to die by Saul’s hand, despite knowing God’s promise to make him king. How could he die if God had not yet fulfilled this promise? David was doubting. And like David, when times grow tough and we begin to lose heart, we too may doubt.

Thus, Paul encourages us to “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,” knowing that doing the work to which God called us is never in vain (1 Cor. 15:58). We are also exhorted in Hebrews to remember that Jesus Himself suffered hostility from unbelievers, and to consider this so that we will not grow weary and lose heart (Heb. 12:3).

Let us stand firm then in our faith, knowing that the One in whom we have faith is faithful. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5). He is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind (Num. 23:19). His lovingkindness never ceases, nor does His compassion ever fail; no, His faithfulness is great (Lam. 3:22-23).

Be strong, my brethren, because we have a God who, if we will but humble ourselves before Him, cares for us and is pleased to carry our anxiety (1 Pet. 5:6-7). He is our rock and our fortress (Ps. 18:2). And He will give us strength in our time of need (Isa. 41:10).

"And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul." 1 Samuel 27:1

The thought of David's heart at this time was a false thought, because he certainly had no ground for thinking that God's anointing him by Samuel was intended to be left as an empty unmeaning act. On no one occasion had the Lord deserted His servant; he had been placed in perilous positions very often, but not one instance had occurred in which divine interposition had not delivered him. The trials to which he had been exposed had been varied; they had not assumed one form only, but many- yet in every case He who sent the trial had also graciously ordained a way of escape. David could not put his finger upon any entry in his diary, and say of it, "Here is evidence that the Lord will forsake me," for the entire tenor of his past life proved the very reverse. He should have argued from what God had done for him, that God would be his defender still. But is it not just in the same way that we doubt God's help? Is it not mistrust without a cause? Have we ever had the shadow of a reason to doubt our Father's goodness? Have not His lovingkindnesses been marvellous? Has He once failed to justify our trust? Ah, no! our God has not left us at any time. We have had dark nights, but the star of love has shone forth amid the blackness; we have been in stern conflicts, but over our head He has held aloft the shield of our defence. We have gone through many trials, but never to our detriment, always to our advantage; and the conclusion from our past experience is, that He who has been with us in six troubles, will not forsake us in the seventh. What we have known of our faithful God, proves that He will keep us to the end. Let us not, then, reason contrary to evidence. How can we ever be so ungenerous as to doubt our God? Lord, throw down the Jezebel of our unbelief, and let the dogs devour it.

  • Brethren, David was called a man after God’s own heart (1 Sam. 13:14). Enoch walked with God. In Daniel’s vision, the man who came to him lay his hand upon Daniel’s shoulder and addressed him as “a man greatly beloved,” or “highly esteemed” (Dan. 10:11, 19).

Believer, were the Lord to come to you today, would He say this of you? Are you walking with Him? Seeking after His heart? If not, why not?

What has God promised us? “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (Jas. 4:8).

Christian, you were bought with a price! “you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ” (1 Pet. 1:18-19). Of all people, you should be a person after God’s own heart. You should be walking with Him. For you are, to Him, “a man greatly beloved,” so much so that, while you were yet a sinner, Christ died for you (Rom. 5:8).

This does not mean a life of ease; we are adopted as sons, and such is never the lot of the son. The son is disciplined by his father (Heb. 12:7-11). Jesus promised we would face tribulation in this life (Jn. 16:33). These trials are meant to further develop and strengthen our faith (Jas. 1:2-4).

Let us then turn to Him in all things, relying on His strength (Isa. 41:10; Phil. 4:13), and walk closely with Him by the Spirit, because He calls us, as He did Daniel, “greatly beloved.”

    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Evening, October 2

"A man greatly beloved." Daniel 10:11

Child of God, do you hesitate to appropriate this title? Ah! has your unbelief made you forget that you are greatly beloved too? Must you not have been greatly beloved, to have been bought with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot? When God smote His only begotten Son for you, what was this but being greatly beloved? You lived in sin, and rioted in it, must you not have been greatly beloved for God to have borne so patiently with you? You were called by grace and led to a Saviour, and made a child of God and an heir of heaven. All this proves, does it not, a very great and superabounding love? Since that time, whether your path has been rough with troubles, or smooth with mercies, it has been full of proofs that you are a man greatly beloved. If the Lord has chastened you, yet not in anger; if He has made you poor, yet in grace you have been rich. The more unworthy you feel yourself to be, the more evidence have you that nothing but unspeakable love could have led the Lord Jesus to save such a soul as yours. The more demerit you feel, the clearer is the display of the abounding love of God in having chosen you, and called you, and made you an heir of bliss. Now, if there be such love between God and us let us live in the influence and sweetness of it, and use the privilege of our position. Do not let us approach our Lord as though we were strangers, or as though He were unwilling to hear us- for we are greatly beloved by our loving Father. "He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" Come boldly, O believer, for despite the whisperings of Satan and the doubtings of thine own heart, thou art greatly beloved. Meditate on the exceeding greatness and faithfulness of divine love this evening, and so go to thy bed in peace.

  • California Nurse Files Lawsuit Alleging 5,000% Surge in Fetal Deaths Linked to COVID mRNA Vaccines

A dedicated labor and delivery nurse, Michelle Spencer, RN, has filed a significant lawsuit against Community Health System (operating as Community Medical Centers, CMC) in Fresno County Superior Court (Case No. 25CECG03557).

The complaint alleges a dramatic increase in fetal deaths at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) following the 2021 rollout of COVID mRNA vaccines, with internal data and communications reportedly suppressed by hospital management.

CRMC experienced a baseline of 1-2 stillbirths per month before 2021, but this surged to approximately 4 per week post-vaccine rollout, predominantly among fully vaccinated pregnant women.

A September 2022 hospital-wide email titled “Record High Dead Babies” acknowledged the crisis but allegedly prompted no thorough investigation.

Instead, management deflected blame to factors like “pesticide exposure” and avoided examining mRNA vaccines as a potential cause, with fetal death certificates allegedly falsified and no adverse events reported to VAERS.

Renowned OB/GYN Dr. James A. Thorp provided evidence showing one California hospital’s stillbirth rate climbing from the national average of ~5.7 per 1,000 births pre-2021 to 29.3 per 1,000 after July 2021, aligning with the vaccine rollout timeline.

After Spencer leaked the email to media outlets, she faced alleged retaliation, including demotion, denial of a $5,000 performance bonus, and a questionable HIPAA violation warning.

Her complaint to the California Department of Public Health was reportedly dismissed after CMC provided misleading information, potentially influenced by financial ties to CDC programs and pharmaceutical partnerships.

Filed under California’s public interest statute (CCP §1021.5), the lawsuit, led by attorneys John W. Howard and Gregory J. Glaser seek compensatory and punitive damages, an independent audit of fetal death data, mandatory VAERS reporting, and a halt to coercive vaccine policies for pregnant women without robust informed consent.

  • Brethren, how may we lay up fruit for the Lord? We must abide in Him. For the vine may not bear fruit apart from the root. No, it gets its strength from the root, and is only able to bear because of the nourishment it receives.

If a branch is severed from the root, it does nothing but wither and eventually die, unless it is quickly grafted back in.

Jesus is our root, the true vine (Jn. 15:1). Let us abide in Him that we may bear fruit, we cannot do so of ourselves, nor apart from Him can we do anything - at least, anything that pleases God (Jn. 15:4-5).

What happens if we do not abide? God is as a vinedresser, pruning away any branches that do not bear fruit, that the branches remaining may bear more. And as the severed branch quickly withers and dies, so does the spiritual life of the one who does not abide in Christ (Jn. 15:6).

This is to God’s glory, that we bear much fruit; this is evidence that we are His disciples (Jn. 15:8). What is this fruit? Paul tells us that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Gal. 5:22-23). Are these fruits evident in your life?

There is other fruit as well; that of evangelism and discipleship. Jesus told His disciples that the field was ripe for harvest, that we should be gathering fruit for eternal life (Jn. 4:35-36). We must continue sowing His word, and reaping the harvest of that sowing.

Christian, do not be as the branch not bearing fruit that will be cut off; abide in Him and bear the fruit of the grace you have received.

    Morning, October 1

"Pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved." Song of Solomon 7:13

The spouse desires to give to Jesus all that she produces. Our heart has "all manner of pleasant fruits," both "old and new," and they are laid up for our Beloved. At this rich autumnal season of fruit, let us survey our stores. We have new fruits. We desire to feel new life, new joy, new gratitude; we wish to make new resolves and carry them out by new labours; our heart blossoms with new prayers, and our soul is pledging herself to new efforts. But we have some old fruits too. There is our first love: a choice fruit that! and Jesus delights in it. There is our first faith: that simple faith by which, having nothing, we became possessors of all things. There is our joy when first we knew the Lord: let us revive it. We have our old remembrances of the promises. How faithful has God been! In sickness, how softly did He make our bed! In deep waters, how placidly did He buoy us up! In the flaming furnace, how graciously did He deliver us. Old fruits, indeed! We have many of them, for His mercies have been more than the hairs of our head. Old sins we must regret, but then we have had repentances which He has given us, by which we have wept our way to the cross, and learned the merit of His blood. We have fruits, this morning, both new and old; but here is the point- they are all laid up for Jesus. Truly, those are the best and most acceptable services in which Jesus is the solitary aim of the soul, and His glory, without any admixture whatever, the end of all our efforts. Let our many fruits be laid up only for our Beloved; let us display them when He is with us, and not hold them up before the gaze of men. Jesus, we will turn the key in our garden door, and none shall enter to rob Thee of one good fruit from the soil which Thou hast watered with Thy bloody sweat. Our all shall be Thine, Thine only, O Jesus, our Beloved!
Brethren, how may we lay up fruit for the Lord? • Christian, how often do you pray, and, if you do not immediately receive the answer you desire, give up? Is this how we are taught to live the Christian life?

If we know our desires align with God’s will, why stop praying? Scripture tells us, “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him” (1 Jn. 5:14-15).

Or, if you give up, is it because you know what you are praying is not His will?

If what you seek is just, or justice, take example from the widow in Jesus story, who, coming before an unjust judge who did not fear God nor respect man, sought a judgement in her favor. She did not give up. Though he would not at first grant her request, she continued to petition, and eventually, the judge yielded. If this is how an unjust judge deals with someone, how much more will the justice be that God grants to His elect (Lk. 18:1-8)?

If we do not ask, how shall we receive? And if we ask with wrong motive, why would God reward us? (Jas. 4:2-3)

Recall Jesus words to us: “If you abide in Me, and my words abide in you, as whatever you wish and it will be done for you” (Jn. 15:7).

So, let us not come before God only once with our supplication when we know we are asking according to His will. No, let us come multiple times - seven times even - that we might hear and receive from Him.

    Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotions

    Evening, September 28

"Go again seven times." 1 Kings 18:43

Success is certain when the Lord has promised it. Although you may have pleaded month after month without evidence of answer, it is not possible that the Lord should be deaf when His people are earnest in a matter which concerns His glory. The prophet on the top of Carmel continued to wrestle with God, and never for a moment gave way to a fear that he should be non-suited in Jehovah's courts. Six times the servant returned, but on each occasion no word was spoken but "Go again." We must not dream of unbelief, but hold to our faith even to seventy times seven. Faith sends expectant hope to look from Carmel's brow, and if nothing is beheld, she sends again and again. So far from being crushed by repeated disappointment, faith is animated to plead more fervently with her God. She is humbled, but not abashed: her groans are deeper, and her sighings more vehement, but she never relaxes her hold or stays her hand. It would be more agreeable to flesh and blood to have a speedy answer, but believing souls have learned to be submissive, and to find it good to wait for as well as upon the Lord. Delayed answers often set the heart searching itself, and so lead to contrition and spiritual reformation: deadly blows are thus struck at our corruption, and the chambers of imagery are cleansed. The great danger is lest men should faint, and miss the blessing. Reader, do not fall into that sin, but continue in prayer and watching. At last the little cloud was seen, the sure forerunner of torrents of rain, and even so with you, the token for good shall surely be given, and you shall rise as a prevailing prince to enjoy the mercy you have sought. Elijah was a man of like passions with us: his power with God did not lie in his own merits. If his believing prayer availed so much, why not yours? Plead the precious blood with unceasing importunity, and it shall be with you according to your desire.

  • Believer, are you going about life trying to obey God's law? The law given through Moses?

Do you not know that we are not under law but under grace (Rom. 6:14)?

The law cannot free us from sin. On the contrary, the law shows us our sinfulness. If we could live up to it, Jesus needed not come. But He has, so that in Him, we have been set free from the curse of the law and from our bondage to sin.

Christian, if we truly wish to live a life pleasing to God, it is not adherence to the law that He seeks. A life truly pleasing to God is the one in which Christ lives through us, a life lived by faith (Gal. 2:20).

Judge yourself, but do so rightly, recognizing and confessing your sin to God so that He might cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 Jn. 1:9). For this reason, Christ came, to cleanse us, to wash us of our sin, to give us a new heart (Tit. 3:5), and to justify us before God (Rom. 3:24; 1 Cor. 6:11; 1 Pet. 3:18).

Rejoice that your robes have been washed white in the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 7:14)!

    Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotions

    Evening, September 6

"If ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." Galatians 5:18

He who looks at his own character and position from a legal point of view, will not only despair when he comes to the end of his reckoning, but if he be a wise man he will despair at the beginning"; for if we are to be judged on the footing of the law, there shall no flesh living be justified. How blessed to know that we dwell in the domains of grace and not of law! When thinking of my state before God the question is not, "Am I perfect in myself before the law?" but, "Am I perfect in Christ Jesus?" That is a very different matter. We need not enquire, "Am I without sin naturally?" but, "Have I been washed in the fountain opened for sin and for uncleanness?" It is not "Am I in myself well pleasing to God?" but it is "Am I accepted in the Beloved?" The Christian views his evidences from the top of Sinai, and grows alarmed concerning his salvation; it were better far if he read his title by the light of Calvary. "Why," saith he, "my faith has unbelief in it, it is not able to save me." Suppose he had considered the object of his faith instead of his faith, then he would have said, "There is no failure in Him, and therefore I am safe." He sighs over his hope: "Ah! my hope is marred and dimmed by an anxious carefulness about present things; how can I be accepted?" Had he regarded the ground of his hope, he would have seen that the promise of God standeth sure, and that whatever our doubts may be, the oath and promise never fail. Ah! believer, it is safer always for you to be led of the Spirit into gospel liberty than to wear legal fetters. Judge yourself at what Christ is rather than at what you are. Satan will try to mar your peace by reminding you of your sinfulness and imperfections: you can only meet his accusations by faithfully adhering to the gospel and refusing to wear the yoke of bondage.

  • Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotions

    Morning, August 11

"Oh that I were as in months past." Job 29:2

Numbers of Christians can view the past with pleasure, but regard the present with dissatisfaction; they look back upon the days which they have passed in communing with the Lord as being the sweetest and the best they have ever known, but as to the present, it is clad in a sable garb of gloom and dreariness. Once they lived near to Jesus, but now they feel that they have wandered from Him, and they say, "O that I were as in months past!" They complain that they have lost their evidences, or that they have not present peace of mind, or that they have no enjoyment in the means of grace, or that conscience is not so tender, or that they have not so much zeal for God's glory. The causes of this mournful state of things are manifold. It may arise through a comparative neglect of prayer, for a neglected closet is the beginning of all spiritual decline. Or it may be the result of idolatry. The heart has been occupied with something else, more than with God; the affections have been set on the things of earth, instead of the things of heaven. A jealous God will not be content with a divided heart; He must be loved first and best. He will withdraw the sunshine of His presence from a cold, wandering heart. Or the cause may be found in self-confidence and self-righteousness. Pride is busy in the heart, and self is exalted instead of lying low at the foot of the cross. Christian, if you are not now as you "were in months past," do not rest satisfied with wishing for a return of former happiness, but go at once to seek your Master, and tell Him your sad state. Ask His grace and strength to help you to walk more closely with Him; humble yourself before Him, and He will lift you up, and give you yet again to enjoy the light of His countenance. Do not sit down to sigh and lament; while the beloved Physician lives there is hope, nay there is a certainty of recovery for the worst cases.

  • Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotions

    Morning, July 26

"Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge, etc." 2 Peter 1:5, 6

If thou wouldest enjoy the eminent grace of the full assurance of faith, under the blessed Spirit's influence, and assistance, do what the Scripture tells thee, "Give diligence." Take care that thy faith is of the right kind- that it is not a mere belief of doctrine, but a simple faith, depending on Christ, and on Christ alone. Give diligent heed to thy courage. Plead with God that He would give thee the face of a lion, that thou mayest, with a consciousness of right, go on boldly. Study well the Scriptures, and get knowledge"; for a knowledge of doctrine will tend very much to confirm faith. Try to understand God's Word; let it dwell in thy heart richly.

When thou hast done this, "Add to thy knowledge temperance." Take heed to thy body: be temperate without. Take heed to thy soul: be temperate within. Get temperance of lip, life, heart, and thought. Add to this, by God's Holy Spirit, patience"; ask Him to give thee that patience which endureth affliction, which, when it is tried, shall come forth as gold. Array yourself with patience, that you may not murmur nor be depressed in your afflictions. When that grace is won look to godliness. Godliness is something more than religion. Make God's glory your object in life; live in His sight; dwell close to Him; seek for fellowship with Him; and thou hast "godliness"; and to that add brotherly love. Have a love to all the saints: and add to that a charity, which openeth its arms to all men, and loves their souls. When you are adorned with these jewels, and just in proportion as you practise these heavenly virtues, will you come to know by clearest evidence "your calling and election." "Give diligence," if you would get assurance, for lukewarmness and doubting very naturally go hand in hand.

Take care that thy faith is of the right kind- that it is not a mere belief of doctrine, but a simple faith, depending on Christ, and on Christ alone. Give diligent heed to thy courage.
